Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM)

Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM), abbreviated as CSM, is a special synthetic rubber produced by the simultaneous chlorination and sulfonation of polyethylene. It possesses a fully saturated backbone and side groups. It can be cured using vulcanization systems such as metal oxides, sulfur, polyols, peroxides, and epoxy resins, and is suitable for molding using hot air, steam, and compression vulcanization methods. Due to its structure, CSM possesses numerous properties in the rubber industry, including:

1. Excellent ozone and weather resistance; 2. Good rebound properties;

3. Resistance to a wide range of chemical agents; 4. Moderate oil and solvent resistance;

5. Good flame retardancy; and 6. Excellent resistance to abrasion and mechanical damage.

CSM has excellent wear resistance (CSM S503, CSM S603), heat resistance, low water absorption, sun resistance, ozone resistance, corona resistance, etc., and can be used for the sheath of wires and cables; it has color stability and good UV resistance under high temperature conditions, and can be used to make colored cable outer sheaths to distinguish different functions.

CSM can be used for automotive air conditioning hoses, hydraulic hoses, exhaust hoses, fuel hoses, automotive steering power hoses (ATF oil) CSM S503, vacuum hoses, spark plug caps and ignition wires, etc.
