POP (Polyolefin Plastomer) and POE (Polyolefin Elastomer) are both common polyolefin elastomers, primarily used to improve the flexibility, impact resistance and low-temperature performance of materials such as PE and PP.
POE is more commonly used for toughening and enhancing elasticity, whilst POP performs better in terms of flexibility, processing flowability and film properties.

POE is primarily used in the production and modification of automotive bumpers, door panels, dashboards, interior trim components and certain exterior plastic parts. Thanks to its excellent impact resistance, low-temperature toughness and weather resistance, POE can enhance the toughness and impact resistance of polyolefin materials, making it suitable for production environments where automotive components must meet requirements for lightweight construction, impact resistance and long-term performance.

POE is primarily used in the production of insulation layers for wires and cables, cable sheaths, flexible cables and certain halogen-free, flame-retardant cable materials. With its good flexibility, impact resistance and electrical insulation properties, it can be used in combination with other polyolefin materials and flame-retardant systems according to product requirements, making it suitable for wire and cable products that require flexibility, environmental resistance and mechanical strength.

POE is primarily used in the production and modification of flexible packaging films, high-toughness films, multilayer composite films and certain functional films. By incorporating suitable grades of POE, the flexibility, puncture resistance and impact resistance of film materials can be enhanced whilst maintaining good thermoplastic processing properties. It is suitable for film production processes such as blown film, cast film and multilayer co-extrusion.

POE is primarily used in the production of mid-soles, outsoles, foamed footwear materials, cushioning pads and other elastic foamed products for sports shoes. It possesses good softness, elasticity and resilience, and can be used in combination with foamed materials such as EVA to improve the resilience, cushioning performance and fatigue resistance of foamed products, making it suitable for the production of footwear materials and elastic foamed products.

POE is primarily used in the production of PP impact modifiers, PE modified compounds, high-impact plastic pellets and modified masterbatches. POE exhibits good compatibility with polyolefin materials and can be used as an impact modifier to improve the impact resistance and low-temperature toughness of materials such as PP and PE. It is suitable for plastic modification processes such as injection moulding, extrusion and compounding and pelletisation.

This may be feasible in some applications; however, it is necessary to first examine the melt index (MI), density, hardness and actual processing performance of both materials, and then determine the blending ratio through small-scale trials.
