Lead salt stabilizers are a highly effective PVC heat stabilization system based on various functional lead salts, primarily used in the processing and molding of rigid PVC products. During PVC processing, the resin is prone to thermal decomposition at high temperatures and under shear stress, releasing HCl gas, which leads to discoloration, performance degradation, and even scorching of the product. Lead salt stabilizers can quickly capture and neutralize the HCl produced by PVC decomposition, while effectively inhibiting chain degradation reactions at the molecular level, thereby significantly improving the thermal stability and safety of PVC during processing.
These stabilizers are typically compounded from various lead salt systems, such as basic lead sulfate, basic lead phosphite, and lead stearate.  While ensuring initial thermal stability, they provide excellent long-term thermal stability, allowing PVC products to maintain color stability and uniform performance even under high-temperature, long-term continuous extrusion conditions.
