Uses
1.Automotive Components
Leveraging its excellent oil resistance, heat resistance, ozone resistance, and weather resistance, CSM plays a critical role in fluid transfer systems within and around automobiles. It is widely used in manufacturing automotive air conditioning hoses (resistant to refrigerants and oils), hydraulic hoses (withstands high-pressure fluids), exhaust hoses (tolerant of hot exhaust gases), fuel hoses (resistant to gaso line/die sel erosion), and power steering hoses (for Automatic Transmission Fluid - ATF). Furthermore, its good electrical insulation and heat resistance make it suitable for vacuum hoses, spark plug boots, and ignition wires, ensuring reliable engine operation and long service life under demanding conditions.
2.Wire and Cable
CSM excels as a cable sheathing material. Its core advantages include superior abrasion resistance, outstanding heat resistance, extremely low water absorption, excellent UV resistance (sunlight resistance), strong ozone resistance, and good corona resistance. These combined properties make it an ideal choice for high-quality cable jackets. Notably, CSM maintains color stability at elevated temperatures and offers exceptional UV resistance, making it highly suitable for manufacturing colored cable outer sheaths needed to clearly distinguish different functions. Cables with CSM protective sheathing can strictly meet the rigorous standards set by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) (such as heat resistance, flame retardancy, low smoke zero halogen), and their reliability and safety are well-proven. Consequently, they have been successfully deployed in critical facilities like nuclear power plants, where cable performance requirements are extremely high.
3.Hoses
CSM is a prominent material in hose manufacturing due to its exceptional chemical resistance and very low permeability to water and fluorinated refrigerants (e.g., R134a, R410a). It is frequently specified as the preferred material for various types of air conditioning system hoses (including residential, automotive, and commercial). It is also extensively used in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) delivery hoses and chemical-resistant industrial hoses designed to withstand acids, alkalis, and solvents, ensuring safe and leak-free fluid transfer.
4.Reinforced Sheeting/Fabrics
Benefiting from its unique self-curing characteristics (simplifying processing) and ability to inhibit microbial growth, CSM is commonly processed into high-strength, reinforced waterproof sheeting/fabrics. This sheeting is extensively used for corrosion protection wrapping of large bridge cables, seepage prevention in reservoir storage facilities, reinforcement and protection of river embankments, and roof waterproofing projects. Additionally, its excellent chemical resistance makes it highly valuable in the chemical industry, where it is carefully designed for waterproof liners in chemical water treatment tanks, effectively resisting various chemical attacks and ensuring long-term operational stability.
5.Construction
CSM finds diverse uses in the construction industry, serving as a key component in high-performance sealants, as a weather-resistant protective top layer for polyurethane (PU) foam, and in the manufacture of insulation materials and foam products. Particularly noteworthy are thermal insulation tapes/sheets made from CSM, which combine superior waterproofing, efficient thermal insulation, and strong UV protection. These tapes/sheets offer a unique advantage during roof installation: they retain good thermoplastic behavior, allowing installers to securely bond them to themselves or other substrates through heating, enabling simple, reliable, and excellently sealed overlapping joints.
6.Rollers/Coverings
CSM is an ideal material for manufacturing high-performance rollers/coverings. CSM rollers exhibit outstanding resistance to atmospheric aging, excellent ozone resistance, broad chemical corrosion resistance, and good high-temperature tolerance. These combined properties have led to their widespread application in demanding special industrial sectors such as printing, coating, textiles, papermaking, and handling special chemicals, ensuring process stability and extended roller life.
