Product Description
High Temperature Resistant Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) for Door and Sunroof Seals
Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) is a product of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) that has been further chlorinated. Its chlorine content is generally 65% to 72% (volume fraction). In addition to having many excellent properties of PVC, CPVC has much better corrosion resistance, heat resistance, solubility, flame retardancy, and mechanical strength than PVC. Therefore, CPVC is a new material with excellent performance and is widely used in construction, chemical industry, metallurgy, shipbuilding, electrical appliances, textiles and other fields. It has a very broad application prospect..
Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride is a new type of engineering plastic made by chlorination modification of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin. The product is white or light yellow, tasteless, odorless, non-toxic loose particles or powder. After chlorination of PVC resin, the irregularity of molecular chain arrangement increases, the polarity increases, the solubility of the resin increases, and the chemical stability increases, thereby improving the heat resistance of the material and the corrosion resistance of acids, alkalis, salts, oxidants, etc. The mechanical properties of the heat deformation temperature of the resin are improved, the chlorine content is increased from 56.7% to 63-69%, the Vicat softening temperature is increased from 72-82ºC to 90-125ºC, the maximum use temperature can reach 110ºC, and the long-term use temperature is 95ºC. Therefore, CPVC is a new type of engineering plastic with broad application prospects.

Chlorinated polyvinyl chloride is also known as (poly) perchlorethylene. It is a high molecular compound obtained by chlorination of polyvinyl chloride. The chlorine content is 61%~68%. It is thermoplastic. White powder. Not easy to burn. Resistant to concentrated acid, concentrated alkali solution, mineral oil, etc., and the products do not deform in boiling water. It is more soluble in organic solvents such as esters, ketones, and aromatic hydrocarbons than polyvinyl chloride. It is used to make corrosion-resistant paints, adhesives, and synthetic fibers. CPVC has excellent high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and flame retardancy, and its price is relatively low compared to other thermoplastic engineering plastics. Therefore, CPVC has a wide range of uses. It is widely used in hot and cold water transportation in residences, hotels, and restaurants, and industrial pipeline water supply systems; cable pipes, special-shaped doors and windows, and other building materials; decorative materials in aircraft, and materials for cars and lamps; CPVC sheets can be welded into different equipment; in addition, it is also widely used in the electronics industry.

Although CPVC is a PVC-based polymer and shares some properties with PVC, it is also a polymer with its own characteristics that are particularly important for its processing. For example, the melting temperature of CPVC polymer ranges from 400°F to a maximum of 450°F. Extrusion requires chrome-plated or stainless steel dies. The extrusion die must be well streamlined to ensure long processing runs. Flat dies do not provide satisfactory extrusion runs. For good control of the extruded pipe and profile dimensions, vacuum setting technology is preferred. The extruder should be equipped with a screw drive of at least 40 horsepower. Several screw designs are available to extrude a variety of well-formulated compounds.
Injection molding requires a low-compression screw with an appropriate lead-out length. Pipe materials require a pointed plasticizing screw. Low-viscosity, high-output materials require a processing screw with the slide check ring removed, and a ball check screw cannot be used. Injection molds should be made of stainless steel or at least chrome- or nickel-plated.

Preparation method: Polyvinyl chloride is chlorinated to obtain high molecular compound. According to the degree of polymerization, it can be made into high viscosity type, medium viscosity type and low viscosity type. High viscosity type has better resistance to counterfeiting, chemical corrosion resistance and elasticity. Low viscosity type is more soluble in vegetable oils. Powdered polyvinyl chloride is swollen with appropriate solvent at a temperature below 50ºC and then suspended in water for chlorination.
High Temperature Resistant Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride (CPVC) for Door and Sunroof Seals
Polyvinyl chloride, referred to as PVC, is a polymer formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer (CH2=CHCl). In 1912, Ostromilensky successfully used monomer polymerization from the perspective of industrial production, and it was officially put into industrial production in 1936. It was once the largest variety of plastics in the world. With the development of the petrochemical industry, its annual output is now second only to polyethylene. Vinyl chloride monomer is mainly produced by ethylene oxychlorination (process as shown in the figure). More than 80% of polyvinyl chloride in the world is produced by suspension polymerization. It is soluble in dimethylformamide, cyclohexanone, chlorobenzene and toluene-acetone solvents, has good mechanical and electrical properties, stable chemical properties, and can withstand concentrated hydrochloric acid, 90% sulfuric acid, 60% nitric acid and 20% sodium hydroxide. However, it has poor heat resistance and fire resistance, softens at 80ºC, begins to decompose and discolor at 130ºC and precipitates hydrogen chloride, and can also precipitate hydrogen chloride under light, and the mechanical and chemical properties decrease rapidly. For this reason, heavy metal salts (such as lead salts, barium salts, etc.) are often added as stabilizers. Because heavy metal salts are toxic, PVC films cannot be used for food packaging and children's toys. It is best to add non-toxic stabilizers (zinc stearate, calcium, etc.). A simple identification method for PVC products is a combustion test. When burning, it will have a yellow flame, a green bottom, white smoke, and a pungent odor of chlorine. The product will go out as soon as it is away from the fire.
